  1. Thanks, when using a 2019 mac you also need to make sure to allow boot from external drive else you will get error during install

  2. Bro I found out this model of MacBook can’t upgrade its ram! Is this ssd fast enough to produce music with a 8Gb ram?

  3. I have a early MacBook Air and have followed your procedure but for some reason my computer won’t pick up the ssd when I install it. I am using a evo 860 1 tb. Any suggestions would be appreciated

  4. anyone having any issue about getting hot, more than before replacement of this sdd. Recently I've replaced my original ssd wtih samsung evo 970 plus, with same usage everyday, now laptop is getting more hot. And I found same issue on samsung's site

  5. Is performance in the drive still as good as the original drive? Also, are there any drives available on Amazon where you don't need the convert adapter?

  6. Your video is very informative. I just bought a used early 2015 MacBook Pro that I'm swapping a out the internal drive to a 500gb Samsung Evo Pro. This helps tremendously on what to do step by step. I need to move files and apps from my old iMac early 2011 do I make a time machine backup then export to my MacBook Pro after swapping to the Evo Pro?

  7. I did everything like you said in this instruction but after I’ve plugged evo with this adapter I get bootloop.. any idea how to fix it ?

  8. I have a screen flickering issue with my macbook pro early 2015 already tried the troubleshooting steps mac has and still got the same issue does this mean I have to replace the graphics card? Not looking to buy a new macbook I just want this laptop I have to be fixed and upgraded I use this for graphics work 🙁

  9. nice video write-up, I performed this upgrade also in a 2014 rmbp with the samsung evo plus 1tb, found out the sleep/standby/hibernation/autopoweroff issues affected the 2013-2014 models, reading on the macrumors forum website thread this known for all aftermarket ssds and apple has no plan to update the dxe boot rom driver for this https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/upgrading-2013-2014-macbook-pro-ssd-to-m-2-nvme.2034976/page-257
Mac models will enter Standby mode after they have been sleeping for 3 hours. The issue we are investigating is a system crash which can sometimes occur while attempting to wake a Mac from this Standby mode. Afterward a panic log will be displayed.

This problem is related to the NVMe DXE driver in the bootrom

  10. Hello Rick,
Thank you so much for your great video. I'm searching over a month for the most valuable upgrade for my mbp and your video is the best. I'm currently running mojave, should this works? Furthermore how can I get the latest firmware of samsung ssd? Additionally im using mbp for music production so I must do a serious upgrade. Thanks again.

  11. Finally i can upgrade my Mac without spending on arm and a leg on the drive. I never really understood why apple gave you such small drives in the MacBook Pro. Just extended the life of my Mac 10 years.

  12. can someone help. i purchased the same ssd but in 500gb but now my macbook battery is waaay bad. it was on sleep mode for 24hrs and went from 100% to 30%. it wouldnt drain nearly as much of that befor.

  13. Hey does this strictly needs to be Samsung SSD or you can put other ones ? Btw. Thanks for the video :))

  14. Why don't you just duplicate your current drive with the upgraded SSD? So much easier than what you're doing.
