In this video, we compare the 2016, 2017 and 2018 top-spec 15″ MacBook Pro models to see how well they perform in Final Cut Pro X. We also use Cinebench R15 to see test how much each model thermal throttles, if at all.

  2. I was going to get a brand new MacBook Pro but ended up getting a 2016 MacBook Pro 2.9ghz i7, Radeon 460gpu, and 1tb ssd for $1900 new. Friend got as a gift and was still plastic wrapped bc he never felt the need to use it. Looked it up and when it was released it was $3500. I feel like I got a decent deal

  3. I bought a refurbished 15" 2015 one (battery, topcase, display entirely new) with dGPU for 1200$ and for most tasks today (DJing, 1080p editing, Photoshop, Blender, gaming at 1440×900) it is still powerful enough, while profiting from USEFUL ports, physical function keys, replaceable SSD, Magsafe with LED, Toslink, a not oversized trackpad, the glowing apple icon… and it can run Mojave. 2016, 2017 and 2018 are stupid toys, sorry! The new 16" is okay again!

  4. I have 2017 13 MacBook Pro base model should I get base model 2017 15 has rx 555 quad core i7 or pay 200 more for rx555x and six core i7 and new keyboard 3rd gen

  5. I'm getting a base Late 2016 15" within the next few days. Should be more than enough for me. Hope reliability doesn't become an issue, cause the warranty is going to be gone AF.

  6. is a 2.6 i7 6 core faster than the 3.1 i7 4 core? need to get a used laptop that works well with media encoder and premiere..

  7. I wonder will you update this video again including late 2018 and mid 2019 for comparison lineup. bcos i am looking for 2nd hand on ebay

  8. I know it's a bit early, but can you do a comparison of the 2016 and the just-released-today 2019 maxed out MacBook Pro?

  9. Hi, thanks a lot for this comparison. Did you make the full comparison of these Macbooks for editing in DaVinci and PremierePro?

  10. The only thing i want to know here is, how is the playback timeline using Final Cut Pro x and adobe premier pro on this 3 MacBook Pro. Is it choppy or smooth?

  11. Great content; been taking in all of the various reviews and comparisons. I was wondering if you have or have you considered a website which has these FCPX and Premiere benchmarks listed that you could compare scores from older Macs from several years ago to newer ones (as opposed to back to back years which you have plenty). I have a 2014 MacBook Pro top of the line model that I'm considering upgrading, and am stuck between a refurbished or used 2016/17 vs a 2018 i7 w/Vega. (I'm even considering selling my 2017 i5 iMac for a Vega and was wondering about that, too.) Obviously the cost of the 2018 is huge, so I was wondering if the difference between the 2016 or 2017 would be a substantial upgrade from the 2014. Thanks and keep up the great content.

  12. I have two laptops with the 8750H…..the macbook and an alienware……which one gets stupid hot….guess……even the i7 gets hot…..its just a macbook problem in general

  13. Very fun and entertaining video and you actually made my mind to get one. And there isn’t anything to complain.

  14. Forget you're videos being shorter. You're providing huge value and helped me decide what Macbook I should get before I go off to school. Keep killing it and Merry Christmas❤️

  15. For black Friday and cyber Monday b&h has a sell for the MacBook 2017 saving 1000 bucks do you think its worth getting the mid 2017 model since it don't look like its much of a difference

  16. Thank you for the video.i am thinking of buying the macbook pro 15.i always use windows but this time i want to try the macbook pro.my question is i have my external drive with my files and movies, will the macbook pro let me open my external drive??? Sorry for ignorance. Saw some videos here but want to let you download some software so that you can open the external drive with few brands on it…. just wondering if its the same with windows like plug and play???really appreciate your reply.thanks

  17. Intel cannot be blamed for Apple and Dell putting the i9 in completely inappropriate chassis…. We should be stoked intel makes something such as the i9.

  18. If YouTubers are spotting throttling after MacBook release, WTF is 1 Trillion dollar Apple doing when testing their "greatest ever" MacBook?? (No offence to YouTubers)
